Jill D. Snively

My counseling practice in Berks County was established July 2006. Before moving to Pennsylvania I trained and practiced in Ohio. I received my Master of Science in Counseling Education from The University of Dayton. I also hold a Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School.

My work experiences are varied and yet very much interrelated. As an ordained pastor I served in the church setting a total of 11 years. I completed a year residency in Pastoral Care and was a hospital chaplain in Columbus, Ohio.

My particular areas of concentration were in women’s health, oncology, and hospice. These areas allowed me to develop special skills in working with grief and loss, infant loss, high-risk pregnancies, children and grief, high-risk illnesses and community education.

My professional counseling training and work experiences presented opportunities with pre-adolescents through adults. The areas of interest that developed, in addition to the those already stated, are depression and anxiety, direction with gifted and ADD/ADHA individuals, sexual abuse, life transitions, career direction, stress, marriage and family relations, spiritual and faith counseling, meditation, guided imagery, and mindfulness.

I also develop and present retreats and speaking engagements.

My approach to counseling focuses on health and wellness. All of us encounter times of challenge in our lives; times that throw us off balance or overwhelm us with uncertainty. We have the potential for healing and recovery if we allow ourselves to be open to our gifts and strengths. Too often these are ignored or underutilized.

As a counselor I listen for and draw attention to the gifts and strengths that are unique and valuable to the individual. I believe it is beneficial to identify and address the negative messages that interfere with living fully. I support and encourage the individual’s journey toward healing, meaning and discovery by utilizing a variety of approaches and modalities. I recognize the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit. Each lends insight for the journey of living.

Thank you for considering me for that journey that is yours.

I am licensed in the state of Pennsylvania as a Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC. License #PC005902.  I hold memberships in the American Counseling Association, the Pennsylvania Counseling Association, and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.
